poor quality bait.

Hey everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone had experienced bad quality worm lately. for the second time in a week me and my mate have had some truly horrendous bait from our local tackle shop. I dont mean like there's a few bad worms in a bag but, this stuff is really bad. It's more like lifeless string than worms.

Last week it was so bad we actually threw £20 worth off bait away after struggling to get a few worms on a hook. With the price of a fisjing session around £20 these days ,I know I haven't got the money to throw away.

Just wondered if it was 2 cases of bad luck or has anyone else had the same experience???

I got a tenner worth last week and when I opened the paper a few hours later half were dead....as if there heads had popped and the other half were barely alive, luckily my mate left early and gave me his worm so my s••t went over the side, pretty disgusted!!!!

i always get mine from garys at lynemouth. he always puts his bait out so you can see what hes giving you.i have even been given worms off him free becauce he said they were crap and they were far better than what i have seen from some tackle shops. change your supplier

Were did u get the worms ?

A use ice packs in me bait box this time of year worms can go bad quickly in this hot weather ! Still got lug hanging on in fridge from last Sunday

Anyway use Lewis's if it's not 2 far always good quality ;)

I have also been sold dead rag, from my local shop recently. so now i make the effort to go to lewis's were u get to c what your buying.:D:D

Have been getting my wormz from hebburn reelsport since time began and a think a can count the number of times the stuff aint been top notch on one hand but even on them rare occasions it's still been okay. In any rate if a shop has worms that are dead they should bin them full stop, never mind ohh i'll chuck yer a couple of bags in for nowt. Their useless and will spoil yer sesh so you might as well not bother. IMO

bought some rag from i.d a few weeks ago after billys and lewises had none and it was the worst i have ever had they were all small almost all dead and just fell apart on the hook

Because I.D. is a hell of alot closer to me than any other tackle shop i tend to go there for ragworm and to be honest the majority of times they have been of poor quality (dead or dying and like one user said full of horrible $#itty green gunge), couple of weeks ago heading back from Blaydon car booty i went up to coatsworth road, Frazers is the shop i think, this rag worm were jumping about as though they were on speed :o:o:o had to keep my fingers clear of the pincers :o:o:o

I've used Frasers since getting back into fishing 12 months ago and never had a problem. When fishing with other lads who got their bait from eleswhere mine is always better quality.
Once had to use reelsports in South Shields and when i got to my mark and opened it i found it was also good quality so would have no problems returning to there also.

Can't understand why you went back for a second batch?

Surely you should have taken the first batch back and asked for a refund!

I haven't bought large quantities of rag/lug for some time now, but I always tried Mcdermotts at Blyth first. If they didn't have any, next stop was Frazers now Lewis's at Whitley Bay, both shops never failed to produce the goods.
