Managed to get the night off work tonight so headed over to port Carlisle this morning after last nights night shift. I was keen to try out and christen my new rod and reel (conoflex flattie fanatic and Penn slammer fixed spool reel. I arrived at 12 o'clock(ish) and got set up on the mud. It wasn't long till the bore came and the water flooded in very quickly due to the tide being quite a big one. The flounders were a little bit slow to come on today, nearly an hour after the bore before the first one took my bait, I needn't have worried though it was fish after fish after fish for the next 3 hours fishing off the grassy bank. Nothing huge but a few decent ones around a pound and a half, all fish taken on fresh crab. Well and truly christened the new gear. I used 2 rods and had about 40(ish)fish out including many double shots. Going to get a bit sleep in the car now, been awake since 11am yesterday I'm completely knackered. Going to fish top of the water through the night and top of the water tomorrow afternoon before I drive back home. Don't know wether to fish the same spot or try somewhere else on the solway, maybe silloth or another area of port Carlisle.

Decided to stay put last night after the afternoons success, set my alarm for 12-30am but woke up to find it raining and quite windy, thought no chance am I going out in that, anyway by about 1-30am the rain had stopped and the wind died right down so gave it a go, only used one rod this time and although not as frenetic still got a dozen fish out, back in the car now for a bit kip then fish this afternoon before heading back.

On my way back home now after another very productive afternoons flatty bashing. Used 2 rods again and ended up with about the same amount of flounders as yesterday afternoon. So in total had around 100 flounders in 3 tides fishing, might not be everyones idea of fun but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

back home now. heres some piccys i took.

Great report mate...............Some quality fish there. Do you ever catch any plaice or other species other than flounder from this mark ?
Looks a lovely place to fish.

99.9% flounder, I have heard of the very, very occasional plaice, bass and eel. I know there's mullet there but never heard of any been caught.
