Pre season questions

Thinking about buying a Daiwa Kenzaki Braid Special 20lb class, was wondering if anybody has used one and what are they like? i know peoplpe on here reckon that 20lb may be a bit overkill but i prefer to err on the side of caution - wouldnt want a lighter rod getting snapped due to drifting fast while snagged etc etc...

Also reel wise I know everybody raves about the Shimano tld 15 and 20, but the Shimano 200LD charter special caught my eye, this model has a level wind which I quite like the idea of.
The Penn 330LD, and the Daiwa Saltist Big Game reels also looked canny (althought the price of the latter is probably enough to put me off!)
can anybody shine some light on these reels?

Ive heard Dynon 3000 55lb is the braid to use so I think thats sorted in my mind.

Finally (sorry to ramble on here!) Ive heard a bit of crack about using welded re-bar anchors for wrecks and rough ground- is it simply a case of bending them to the desired shape and length then welding a few extra hooks to the side for extra grip? My boat is 17ft so is 1-2ft in length adequate for this sized boat?

Any feedback appreciated!

Dave have you considered the trinidad series ive got a couple and they are bomb proof great shore and boat reel.

Have a look on the web for a import which are more realistic price wise.

Dave
I bought that rod at the beginning of last season and I'm pleased I did, had a great time over the summer with it.
Nice and light, great bite detection and plenty of muscle in reserve without totally overpowering any fish you will catch. You'll still feel any nod or dive even from the smallest fish.
Reel wise I use the Charter Special you mention. It's great Lever Drag and the level wind are both perfect when fishing with braid.
While on the subject of braid personally I'm a big fan of Powerpro and use it on both my Boat reels and Spinning reels.
Hope this is of some help to you.

Yip that's the stuff Wallsendo
although I prefer to buy from www.fishingtackle-online.co.uk
It's a couple of quid dearer than the site you mentioned but it's always fresh stock they sell.
I've used Dynon in the past and it's good, no doubt about it but it ain't cheap.
I prefer the Hi-viz yellow as it just makes it that bit easier to see, for me anyway with my old wonky eyes. I use 40lb on my boat reels which is quoted as 0.33mm Diameter or the equivalent of 10lb nylon.
Lovely stuff to use, knots easily, lies perfectly on the spool, strong as hell, as good as Dynon IMHO and cheaper. Never had a problem with it either on the boat reels or on the spinning reels.
Have a google about I'm sure you'll find other people saying the same.
