Is it possible to pump lugworm up here?? As i was down at hadston beach yesterday and was walking along where i seen round circles with a whole in the centre next to every worm cast?? i didnt know you could pump worm up here?
oh right, what kind of sand do you need to use them? and where is best to use them... close to the sea? or just where ever there is casts. I might go and buy one if itll save me money overall?
Most people dig for the worm, if you're allowed to pump I'm sure you'll be allowed to dig. I'm no expert but I guess digging's more effecient as most of the lads use a fork and not a didgerdoo to get at the worm. Could be wrong for once like.
The pumping seems to work for rex when the yabbies are 3" under - a big hairy lugworm 3 foot down though is not going to be sucked out by anyone apart form Angeline Jolie
pumping ive seen never works as good as the old digger ,if ya in the right spot where the worm are ,digging is a bonus ,pumping ,excuse me i just did one ,anyway diggings for me ,and i have still got a back left to try for the winter
Can't see why the authorities would have a problem with pumping when it has less of on impact on the worms ecosystems than digging. I'd rather see all the diggers that converge on Boulmer in the winter with pumps than leaving the place like the Somme come february.
I've used the pump down there with mixed success although I have seen people who are more skillful with the pump do far better.
As the tide drops the worms go deeper so although I've never done it you will probably have to follow the tide's edge and pump as close to the water as possible otherwise you'll be trying to pump mainly dry sand. Will definitely benefit you to take a fork down with you anyway incase the pump's no good and at least you'll still be able to collect worm.
