Had a short Sesh at hendon prom tonight from 3.20 till 5pm.
The sea looked great and there most have been 15 to 20 rods out, not surprising given the recent sea and weather. I set up about 70 yards along from the bridge and quickly had a few whiting, one a fraction under size and one about 6 inches, god knows how it managed to gob my 4 lugworm and a razor cocktail bait given its size, not sure it appreciated my 4/0 hook coming through the side of its head either.
Anyway, the fish were retuned and following a quiet spell I got a couple of pulls and soon after landed a small codling of 37cm, returned safely. Packed up at 5 to head home for me tea.
The lads next to me had both caught a few codling to and said that a few better fish between 3 - 4.5 lbs had been caught up the top earlier in the afternoon, didn't drive up to check what it was like up there though with time being short and all. I could also see a couple of lads fishing 2 down to my left pulling in small codling every other cast, Christ knows what bait they were using but it looked bigger than their lead weights, seems to have done the job though.
I'm sure there will be reports up from there tonight as the fishing seemed to be improving with darkness.
