Pondlife and myself were debating where to have our latest excursion. After much deliberating over weather and tide reports, decided on Rascarrell. Pondy's theory that the worst of the weather should have passed over. Picked him up about 7.00, he'd just finished night shift so I was driving. Went through some horrendous rain storms on the way over but wasn't too bad when we got there. Still decided on the big suit though.
Pondy was off the mark straightaway, he had 2 canny dogs out before I had a bite. We both had 2 rods out, one baited with bluey and a big hook looking for something different like a bull huss but it seems we couldn't get past the LSD's again. The other rods were 2 hooks with rag and sandeel.
My first dog on rag. By this time Pondlife had 3 LSD's all on the big hook and bluey. Then this fellow turned up.
A 2lb codling. At this stage it was quite difficult, squally and a strong tide pull meant we weren't holding the bottom.
Then we thought we'd got what we came for as the colouration wasn't the same as a normal LSD. However on closer inspection....
As the tide went back, the weather improved and tide pull wasn't so bad and became a pleasant afternoon.
Pictures are by Lord Pondlife Lichfield, he finished with 5 dogs and I had 2 dogs, 1 cod and a small (not long or rough) dab and he was right about the weather!
