Fished the Rat House last night from 8pm to 1am. Not as many down as I expected so plenty of space to set up without being wedged in. Very quiet for the first three hours then struck into a good bite. Three quarters of the way in got snagged - decided to be patient but was still not having any luck in freeing it. Decided to take the bull by the horns and pull the line until something gave - which it eventually did but surprisingly only the weight lost and I ended up with a nice plump 4lb codling for the pot. Got two good size whities before finishing. Not much other activity from what I saw and from discussions with others coming off the pier. Used lug, rag, runnydown, squid and mackeral - codling caught on runnydown and fresh lug. Perhaps 2008 could be my lucky year!
