was going to fish roker but opted against it when i seen the rollers coming over, didnt want to risk getting stuck on the roundhead till low water and missing work last night, so off i headed for the end of the rathouse, any ways cut a long story short, first cast produced a nice 6lb 1 ounce cod followed by a 1lb codling then a 2lb codling. fished from 12.30 till 5.30, baits used rag, crab, mussel and razor, all fish fell to rag

Nice! :)

Nice! :)

Nice pics Mick, CODDY told us you had had a few the other day. The fish at Pools where mainly caught on worm this weekend. Strange as two weeks back razor and squid were the 'in' baits?

Well done nice fish.
Micky : the rathouse is the groyne type structure in the mouth of the river Wear. Its on the north side and next to the sailing club and marina.

i never saw or heard of anything coming from the end mate

we were gona move there about 630ish but 2 lads just coming down beat us lol

I have never fished the rathouse, but what I have done is launched my boat from the slipway just upstream of it for the last year.

So if it helps you guys the bottom is reasonably flat over the entire width. The slope down to the chanel reaches maximun depth at about 50 - 60 ft from the jetty and continues across at the same depth to the jetty on the other side but the dredged channel is closer and it starts to slope up about 25-30ft from the south jetty.

All in all its a flat bottom all the way and I have not seen any signs of channels or deeper spots anywhere along its length.

Give me a wave next time I wipe yer lines out :)

Dave
