Just got in from a short session at the Rathouse.got ther about 12.30 and fished till 3.00 .Talking to the lads on the way to the corner signs were not good as no one had caught owt of note.Set up a rod with a big bait of black lug on a Penney rig with fingers crossed, and a light rod with a 2 hook flapper with rag/lug tipped with mackerel.First cast with the big bait had a bite straight off ,a good bite too only to reel in a stamp sized flounder. The lighter rod had bites all the time but only managed to get a whitey of about a pound and a quarter, missed most of the bites due to those little bait robbing wader birds pinching me mackie.Got talking to a couple of lads and the craic was good but the cold weather got the better of me and called it a day,but will be out again tomorrow to use the remains of the bait.
Also heard a rumour today that Roker pier is due to be closed for 10 months for re-furbishment ....what are all those mackie bashers going to do during the summer?
