i have been fishing since 1965 i have caught most british sea fish exept a ray is there anybody out there who could tell me if there is any where within 200m of newcastle where i have a good chance of catching one

i have heard of small thorn back rays getting caught off seaham pier few and far between thow. its just like dog fish you can get them off shields, roker and seaham if they are you have a chance of getting them just like any fish.

(read about thornbacks)North-east coast of scotland down to the wash from may.
on the west coast, morcombe bay and up the west coast of scotland from march onwards.:)

Loch Ryan near old house point/breakers yard area. Just plug away through the dogs and you will get thornbacks and spotted rays. Try june time

I remember fishing on the cairnryan ferry terminal one night getting trebble shots of small rays 2-3lb.

Thats 15 years ago tho!

You could also try holderness area June and July (i think) for smoothies and rays

if you wanna travel then theres a mark on the mersey that gives good returns, if not then wales is prob your best bet, still a touch early for them though
