red rocket fuel ?

just bought a penn 525 mag from ebay. nice reel but it seems to be running a bit fast for my likeing on the cast even with the end cap tightened up and the magnet on full. it sais in the instructions that you can use a thick oil to slow it down a bit more. it recomends red or yellow rocket fuel. red to slow down and yellow to speed up. any one know anything about this:question::question:

This is true red to slow down and yellow to speed it up, but if it seams to be running to fast for red you might find that there is something wrong try stripping the reel and check that the 4 magnets are in place assuming that it is a slidy mag or one on the super mag some of the slidys are prone to the magnets jumping out, if so just super glue them back in but if it is the oil try 3 in 1 oil as it will slow the reel down more than TG red also try not to use the end cap as a brake as it is only used to centre the spool not brake the spool as it puts side thrust on the bearings and will damage them over time hope this helps.

No problem if you still have problems just let me know as i tune and modify reels as a hobby not to make money normally just for mates ie mag conversions and servicing etc.

hi m8 ive got a 525 mag ad i use red rf on mine ad its ok it is fast but easy 2 control its ok lashing it out or just a flick nice reel 2 use

reel now sorted. just as ANDY.WILKY sugessted. when i opened it up, 2 out of 4 of the magnets hat jumped out of there sockets. bit ov glue bit of oil sorted. top advice andy cheers mate
