I "serviced " my two 525 extras, is it possible that I've put 2 much yellow rocket fuel on bearings and that's why there running so fast? And number 5 on the slidey is like number 1 ??? If so what's best way to rectify? Just stick bearings in lighter fuel again and start again??? Cheers on advance. STEVEO.

Not sure but just make sure u ain't got any oil on the magnets or spool where the magnets meet mate just a thought

putting too much oil on the bearings will make it slower. Put thicker oil in them if ya want it to be slower. Are you sure ya haven't lost a magnet or 2? they do have a habit of falling out of their holder!

Unless your casting for distance on a field rocket fuel is far to thin mate for fishing I just use penn oil it's spot on or good old motor oil

I thought that was the whole idea of flushing bearings out and putting thinner oil in, to make them fast. Just stick a drop of heavy oil back in to slow it up mate.

Been honest they are well fast enough standard knock the brakes off and they are quite fast more than enough for fishing situations

i agree with adam thats why ive stuck tad superglue on magnets to hold them in place;)

Yeah 525's have 4 magnets in the holder, oh and I use red rocket fuel in my 525's and yellow in my Abu 6500 mag on the field and find them spot on.

So if I put some of the oil I got in the box with reel. It'll slow it down slightly ?
And is there a right or wrong way to glue the magnets in???

lighter fuel ya bearings again mate and clean ya magnets dry should be 4 i use yellow rocket fuel but warm it first to much oil slows the reel down

I lost all the mags out of 1 of my 525's, they went rusty so kept falling out.
I replaced them with 2 rare earth magnets from ebay. These are mega strong. I use super thin oil in the bearings on this reel, with the magnets pushed off it'll spin forever! with mags on it spins for about 5 secs;)

Penn 525 magnets

Penn 525 magnets

A standard mag has four magnets all on the front of carrier, the mag extra has six magnets four on the front of carrier and two behind the carrier, the super mag extra has eight magnets four on the front of carrier and four behind the carrier.
