the 535 will hold plenty heavy line to cope for the heavy work

the alaminuim butt probs the dc am sure it was conoflex make

Diawa Saltist 30H is the way to go mate! best on the market by far!

If your after something cheaper, the Original SL30SH, or the newer Sealine 30 SHA

Penns are good, but have bearing and spindle trouble.

Dont buy any of the new Abu`s 7000s, they are made in China now, and after going through 3 in a short time, (7000i, 7000I Syncro and 7000I CTMAG) i can confirm they are now pants :o(

Rob Wise theres allsorts that can tow in a bus:

Shimano Aspire ( i love them!)

Zzippy Zetech

AFAW Tornament Rock

Greys Apollo

Century Carbon Metal Badge

Century TTR

or cheaper options like the Ron Thompson Axcellerator.

Hunt around for second hand rods.. rather than new though, as for rock fishing your always gonna bash them up a bit. Theres always some good ones for sale on here.

sounds like the dc 8 mate, i still use mine it's like a broom shank lol and still combined with a 7000c + i use the 535 with sk4 can't fault either set up for heavy ground, the retrive on the 535 is fantastic for keeping everything off the bottom once you've lifted and a very solid reel imo.

cant comment on a 535 but i have been using a slosh 30 and dam adrenaline rod ( same blank as rt axcellorator ) for all my rock / heavy ground / cliff fishing for the past 3 seasons and so far have not come across any situation they struggled with...this set up cost me less than £170 brand new.....would recommend either bit of kit for hard graft....once the slosh was set up with one red block and thicker oil it was a kitten to cast....ideal when fishing slippy rocks .....dont have to worry about nests...crack offs....and can easily launches 7oz leads with big baits....or bully cod thru kelp beds and winch cod up cliff tops....
cheers
Paul

thanks every one just came across this very interesting
Shimano Aspire 130M – Sea Angler Review

John says:
At 500g, this is as light as a feather, yet capable of driving an 8oz sinker like a missile. Along with the Suveran RX it is the best rod in the group. It’s an ideal rod for those who want to stretch the distance without losing fishing refinement. It was obvious that the rod was developed by people who know what good casting is all about; few achieve a precise balance of stiffness and speed in exactly the right areas of the blank. Here the Aspire is excellent – smooth, efficient and usable.
At its best when pendulum casting with a low-set reel, it is handy off the ground. The relatively firm tip helps. Not for beginners, but it is nowhere near as critical as casting weapons are expected to be. The rod is happiest fishing with 6oz of lead and big baits in a lively sea, but handles 4-5oz well. It is one of the few rods here that excels with smaller sinkers.

ive got the ASPIRE 140MPT (14ft Multiplier Power Tool)

and i can seriously say... Its the best Heavy Duty Rob ive had! in action, weight and strength. You look at it and think it aint up to much.. perhaps a ring to short.. but my god, what a bit of kit. Superb action, but still registers bites, can punt a 8ounce with a half mackeral with ease, and bends nicely when wound up.

given that my stable of rods include or have included

Zziplex Zetech
Zziplex Bullet LT
Zziplex Dymic LT Bullet
Century TT-R
Zziplex M4 Evo
Century kompressor Grand Prix

its quite a recoenmendation.
