Probably alot of main dealers will have similar rates to cover heavy overheads, specialist equipment and highly trained staff but for jobs like that you don't really need that level of service and can get away with what you did. The inlet manifold on my mondeo started rattling and needed replacing, the fault was diagnosed by a ford main dealer and they quoted about £550 to do the job. I just went around to their spares counter (where I got excellent service) and got the part for less than £200 and got a local garage to fit it for £80.

My washer pump and boot stopped working on my zafira, luckily i knew a lad on here works for vauxhall so sent him a pm, he advised that all i needed to do was change a fuse, the same fuse worked both boot and washer pump, cost me 50p for a new fuse, wonder what it would have cost in a garage.
