Hello all, sorry this is so late but had PC problems. Had a great week at Laga lodge in Loch Sunart. Even enjoyed the drive up past Loch Lomond and through Glencoe. Took about 6 hours or so.
Didnt fish too hard as had family with me but over the week had dogfish ( lots), codling to 3.5lb, gurnards, coalies, pollack to 2.5lbs, dabs, tons of mackerel, pouting and several thornbacks, including one of 8lb for my son from the shore. Rays on the boat were up to 7lb. Got some photos and will post when I can.
Mark was right about the depth, hitting about 80ft with a reasonable cast and about 350ft deep 250m off the beach.
Fantastic place, wonderful scenery and red hot up to Thursday when we had a few showers. Midges seemed to love the taste of my blood and no one elses. Still got the marks now.
Boat we had was good and stable, Orkney Strikeliner 16ft, and was in with the price and when you consider he charges £95 a day to hire them thats good value as the week cost £670 all in.
Was given a load of live longuistine and squat lobsters and crab, all very tasty. Also collected and ate mussels from the beach.
Would love to plan a weeks trip up there possibly next September (2008) so if anyone on here fancies a trip away for the week let me know. I will definitely be back. Have a look at the website for Laga Lodge.
All in all a very enjoyable and chilled out week.

Nice report Paul. Loch sunart is a lovely place and a pleasure to be at even if you are not catching.

Its a long haul to get there but worth it when you arrive.

I have tried sunnart a few times for spurdogs but unfortunately it seems they have been under serious pressure from commercials.

Wallsendo ...given a choice of walesor west scotland for a holiday with a chance to fish there would be no question...scotland every time.

The midges get really agressive middle of june till the end of august...some scots guy breeds em in his garden shed and trains em to only bite brits...

Having worked up there a lot the best repellant I have found is called SHOO and I have never seen it for sale anywhere else but scotland. It really works.

Cheers
Dave
