Hello all.
Can you fish on the river Tyne without a licence? Or is the Tyne considered river fishing all the way to the sea?

thx...rob

You dont need a licence to fish in salt water, you can fish the Tyne from the river mouth right up until its classed as freshwater, i cant help you on that point though as im not sure what the upper limit is, somebody will let you know im sure but ive never fished past The British Airways car park mark on the north bank.

I see thats good news and thanks' jamiebrennan.
Might get myself onto the Tyne to kick start my noob career as a fisherman :)

thx...rob

im not too sure of where the fresh water starts but i can tell you people fish as far up as B&Q on scotswood road thats deffo salt water they fish for flatties and the odd whitting pops up lol if your after codling try anywhere between the copthorne hotel and the mouth of the tyne its all salt water so no licence required happy fishing look forward to your catch reports
