Oh dear....first blank since I took up sea fishing in September. Well it was bound to happen some day :(

Started off at Panns Bank, fished here for about an hour or so. Baits were coming back untouched so decided to move to the fish quay opposite the glass centre.

Fished here for about 3 hours, only having one bite. Bite was a cracker but i tripped and broke my thermos while trying to get to my rod. Bugger! Missed the bite and ended up with a broken thermos. Few guys down there as well but saw nothing caught.

Used up the last of my bait at the Golden Lion in South Hylton - never fished here before so didn't know what to expect. No bites here.

Anyway, it was better than being at work and now I'm off to the pub! Lovely day for it, just shame about the lack of fish.

Baits used: Frozen Blacks, Mackerel, Raw tiger prawns.

sounds like one of those days!
just out of curiosity, have you had fish on the tiger prawns before? i saw some in asda the other day and wondered if they'd be any good.

I've read posts on here about people getting fish on them before. It was my second time using them today (had nothing on them last time). However, I don't want to give up on them yet...might be better later on in the year.

I, ts hard going now 2 catch owt I tried 2 hrs thursday night on seaham pier used last of my fresh crab nowt

Hard lines mate the golden lion is a canny spot a bit further down is called the pig farm give it a few weeks and there should be plenty of flatties back in the river

might be a stupid question (i dont eat shellfish) but are they soft and easy to put on the hook or are they hard?

Yes they can be a very good bait, They are easy to put on the hook but still quite firm so no need for bait elastic

Unlucky on the blank mate

I use them a lot during the spring and summer when kayak fishing and have caught nearly the same amount of cod on them than fresh crab !
