rod help needed

bad news mate,my conoflex extreme was the same and it snapped, I was talking to my boss who said it will seriously weaken the rod.
dont know if it can be repaired but worth a try

hi eddie just checked on a ron thompson what i,m rebuilding and if it is between the 5th and 6th guide i think it will be ok as it takes alot to bend the rod thier i would run some super glue or 5 min apoxy on it stick it back down and high build over the split do,nt rip it off as it starts of thin then you can see in your pic it starts to run deeper but like anything it is a risk but i have repaired and seen worse and 1 thing in your favour they a pretty well built rods if you can get the rod to me i would do it for you free of charge regards stan

Eddie,

To make a more reliable job of it, you would be best forget about the super glue and simply pt a tying of whipping thread covering the split and an inch beyond either side, then a light coat of high build.
If the crack has not gone down into the underlying layers then it should be fine.

yes i can see it looks like just the outer layer however i would still reccomend a tying of grade A whipping thread and a light coating of high build over it.
If you are worried about how it looks you also put some sort of decal over.
