just wondered if it would be ok to use a 2oz lead on a 50 grm rated rod or would it be too heavy ? cheers for any replies ..... bob:):)

Depends totally on the rod mate... Some blanks are happy casting above the stated weight as the manufacturer builds in a bit of leeway. Other rods hopelessly over state there saying weights. Give it a go with a light cast and I'm sure you will feel of the blank will take it. At such a light weight I can't imagine that it would be much of an issue mate.

thanks for the replies chaps..much appreciated ......:):):) I will do as julio says and try it out with no force behind it......basically just a little flick....and see how it goes.....Bob:):):)

Once again thanks for the replies , I have tried the rod out on the local field and it cast 2ozs 35-40 yds every cast with no problems. I used 30lb b/s straight through to be on the safe side....Bob:):):):) BTW the rod is a9ft shakey telescopic.and coped really well. Its now going in the case to go on holiday to puerto pollensa:)
