fished roker pier 2day 10.30 till 3.30, flat as a fart when i arrived on the pier so the signs were not lookin good for codling, any ways headed off to the roundhead and on arriving i was very suprised to sea me marra don sitting with a couple of codling by his side, well the first 3 hours passes without a single bite only seen the 1 fish in a codling of 2 1/2lb, put a lovly big bait on cast out and the line got rapped round the velcro on my sleeve and snapped off, lost my balance and my belovered apollo and super mag went into the sea, all the lads ran to help me get it back casting over the top and 1 lad caught it by the line, anyways got a hold of the line and whinched it up the pier wall then disaster struck for the second time, the line snapped, now i was really gutted. just as it starting sinking a man came to the rescue with a huge pirk tied to a rope and hooked the rod just nice on the real seat and i managed to get it back, what a relief, cudnt thank the man enougth. any ways straight on with me other mag and out as quickly as possible as in the meen time a few more cod were geting pulled in, then that ship boirder thistle came past done his usual trick of cutting along 30 yards from the pier and yes you guessed it picked my line up along with an other two rods, hung on for life as i didnt have me scissors handy and completely stripped me reel, one of them bas***d days for me, give it a few more hours managed the odd whiteing but missed one hell of a bite, best bite ive had for a long time. all in all seen about 8 codling come in on the roundhead not to sure down the bottom with the biggest round about 4 1/2lb, that wind was starting to get round to a straight northernly so its looking canny for the next few days, hopefully mite give it ago 2moro
