Fished the cormorant down at roker marina, was actually going to fish a comp but got confused with registration times,Doh!,took my son down, who struggledwith the cold weather and strong winds but he stuck it out for 4 hours.First cast slack liner, wound up the line and struck into a Codling 1lb 8oz,second cast another good tug and slack liner struck into it but nothing thereand that was about it for me,Arran had a few cracking bites closer in but missed them, probably good whities having a go at 6/0 pennel rigs,in hind sight probably should have switched to 2/0 rigs and maybe would have caught more.Fish were there but the weather played its part in wearing us down.
Had heard that a possible 12lb was lost off rathouse corner on the lift, was it the same person who started a fire on the public walkway and blew up an aerosol!!!!Are these people stupid!!!:mad:
More ammunition for the anti-fishing brigade, but to be honest can you blame them when you get so called fishermen setting fires when hundreds of people
walking around this walkway enjoying the scenery, not only do they light a fire they blow something up on it....Rant over....

rathouse

tried fishing the rathouse tonight, treacherous. started at 4.30 and finished by 6.30. the weather wore me down aswell.
about a week gone last saturday i was fishing roker pier in bad weather and sudenly the end of the old north pier burst into flames. me thinks some petrol must have been poured over driftwood. it burnt for quite a while aswell. on saturday i fished rat house but had to vacte and fall back to the glass centre due to the severe weather. lo and behold, about 30 yards away some youngs'uns(late teens, early twenties) who where fishing decided to set fire to to one of the shrubs beside where they where fishing, they could have been torching the seats aswell but i was'nt prepared to go over and have a look.they seem to have the mentality of "if i cant steal it, f##k it or kill it i may as well set fire to it" i scarpered in the end and a police van passed me on the way down. who know's, maybe they where going to have a strong word
