This is my first blog 'cos I only joined the other day so hope some of you find it useful. Three of us fished Roker Pier today, Friday 1/2/13, from 11.30am until 3.30pm for the low tide at 12.30pm. I used a two hook flapper using 2/0 hooks baited with lugworm and mackerel strip. We were fishing into the sea side about fifty yards from the round end. I caught six good size whiting, all on the ebb and slack water. As soon as the tide started to pull, the fish stopped feeding. One of my mates also caught six whiting, all keepers and my other mate caught three whiting, again all keepers. A canny little session all in all. Some of the lads fishing on the round end into the sea side caught even more than us.

Nice one mate. Whities are great they keep your rod nodding.
Some people only want cod but if there is no cod to be had whities are great.
Well done on your catch and welcome to nesa.

You've done well mate. I went on the pier about 1630 and everybody was on about the good size whiting. I saw one that must,ve been 2lb! Anyway, after a couple of casts the wind came round from the North and really started to blow! There were 4 of us on the end and we all bailed out when the first waves started jumping over. As we were walking off we saw a couple of lads who were going ON the pier. Each to his own, but I was glad to get off.:o

Thankyou to you who have welcomed me to NESA. A very usefull tool when looking for somewhere to fish. Thanks again.
