Roker Pier - 11/09/10 - Beginners Luck

I took my bairn (10 year old) to Roker Pier at 6.00 this evening fished half way up the pier on the North side. He was float fishing on rag worm just a couple of feet away from the pier. I was fishing 60 yards out North side using rag also. He caught 6 small coalies and one codling about 10" long in about 1 hour. I did not even got a bite!!

Daughter did the same to me a few years back at scotland on holiday, still brings it up now and again lol.

aye it brings back memories of holidays when you are trying hard to not blank and kids come along with hand lines drop em over the edge of the pier and pull fish after fish in , why dont we learn

I've had my son out 3 times this year, 4 years old and he's outfished me twice catching coaleys, a nice wrasse and a codling to date his heaviesst was the wrasse at 2 3/4lbs. He just kisses them and put them back without fuss.
