Went down to the pier yesterday about 3pm to feather for a couple of hours. Pier itself was packed loads of empty fosters cans laying about and empty feather packets. The police were there and marched 4 lads off who looked absolutley mortal as I was walking up!
Anyway to the fish, tried halfway up caught 3 sandeels at the side facing the river mouth. managed then to squeeze into the top area after about an hour and a half. Just about to give in then bam, rod started bouncing slightly. Started reeling in then another massive grab. I knew i wasn't snagged but my reel could hardly cope. got it to the pier wall and couldn't lift it reel had totally gave in. looked down, 1lb and half coalie and at an estimate 2lb 5 coalie both on feathers. hand balled the line half way and the larger of the 2 fish banged off the pier wall and fell off.
Anyway, another one that got away story!
On to ebay for a new reel!!
