decided to have an early morning session for the whitings on roker pier with the light gear. arrived at 3 am and was supprised there was no one else on the pier, set up on the round head and cast two light rods out with 3 oz grips and 2 hook flappers. used a variety of baits macky, lug, runnydowns, rag and prawn. the first 2 hours were pretty dead with just 2 whitings then from 5 am til 7 am it was whitings every single cast often double shots and some cracking ones among them some over a pound and a half most around a pound a really really good average stamp for whitings. all baits took fish but lug seemed the best instead of macky for a change, kept around 30 and returned loads. not everyones cup of tea but great sport on the light gear and the whole pier to myself (never saw a soul the whole session).
