Roker pier 26 Nov.

Jumped in t' TARDIS and materialised on Roker Pier end. Fished top of the tide 0300 am to half ebb 0600 am. When I got there, there were a coupla lads packing up. All theyd 'd had was small whities.

So there I was on the end with only the ghosts of old anglers to talk to. Lovely night. 3 of 4 foot swell. Full moon but pretty mild. Total 7 casts, 1 hook rig. Size 6.0 hook. Runnidown up the snood. Git ball o'mussel tied on the hook. 20 - 30 yard lobs.

No cod. Just small whitey bites and the odd crab.

Oh well. Never mind. Try again this Friday night

Roker pier can be a very good shot Hal. Trouble is, when conditions are right for the git big cod the powers that be close the gate. You used to be able to climb around the side of both the old gates. Years ago I'd have climbed ower the top of the new gate, kept a low profile (ie nee bright lights) and fished the barrier with git big balls o'mussel on me size 6.0 hook. Sadly ;-( I'm to old to climb over the gate these days. Has anyone got any ladders?
