Fished roker last night over low water 9.30pm to 1.30am at a mark halfway between the second steps and the end fishing the bay side. Baits used lug, rag, mackie, squid and raw prawn. The water was fairly flat and there was a cold north/north westerly breeze which built up a bit stronger later on. I caught six codling all undersized largest 29cm. The fish were caught on prawn, lug and lug+squid. I was hoping for some new species but it wasn't to be. Think I'll try Shields tomorrow maybe I'll have better luck.

Welldone on the small stuff mike you should ov tried the ratty house there's loads of different stuff down the side with the small gear

Yeah I like the ratty, I have had allsorts there before just fancied trying somewhere different (my first time fishing roker pier believe it or not :) )

Lumpsucker I was using two hook flapper rigs on two rods one out and one closer in. I tried dropping straight down the wall but kept snagging up on the pier foundations so gave up on that approach fairly quickly.

It is snaggy there close in. Got a few Rocklings last time I had a dangle there, funnily enough every time I got a bite, i got snagged up, when it eventually came free with a bit of gentle jiggling, there was a rockling on the end! Sneaky little devils
