Spent an hour on Roker pier this evening,and as i walked off noticed a sign saying the pier will be closed on monday 6th Aug for essential cleaning works and will re-open as soon as the work is completed.Well having been along to the end of the pier and seen the rubbish,empty lager cans ,daylight packets,old cloths,carrier bags....then the pier will probably open again in January.Its a total embarrassment to see all of the sh1t that so called anglers leave on the pier god only knows what their houses are like.The council workers who are going to be cleaning the pier deserve a medal for even attempting to clean that place up.Roll on winter!!

yep soon as it gets a little cold & the macky have gone,the morons go back under their rocks till next year
You could/nt have said a truer word m8 as i can say exactly the same as it seems only when the mackerel are about that there/s more rubbish than anything lying about its time to have someone there scrutinizing the mess left behind them and make them pick it up or fine them and all proceeds goto the RNLI Institute.
