aye aye lads
myself and my two sideckicks desended onto Roker Pier earlier today.. starting at 10am getting a good spot before a competition kicked off. Each of us testing new rods (me a AFAW Tournament Rock - WOW!, a Dymic LT 14 - GREAT! and a SST - not a rod for me, so for sale!) - Chris a Shimano Aspire - Superb! and Mark a ZTI - Outta this world! and a Profile - lovley slim rod!)
Fishing just down from the end, in gale force winds, we ended up having a canny day. I caught a nice bass of around 2.5lb on a 2/0 clip down pulley rig baited with rag, at max distance i could get in the wind (around 120 yards). Then a small coaly being my only other fish.
Chris caught 2 good size whiting.. again same pulley rig and rag... which are big in length and head size, but very very skinny.
Mark caught 2 decent whiting as well.. one nice and plump, the other a skeletor!!! both on peeler on same 2/0 pully rig.
The wind spoilt what had potential to be a great day. Small stuff (whiting and coalys) was coming in on the end but not in great numbers... very little was caught futher down the pier. So i doubt the weigh in of the comp was up to much.
Walking onto the Pier:
The 3 Muskerteers!!! (Chris in red, Mark in middle and Me in dark blue)
Bass Ahoy!!!
A Good Whiting for Mark
Tommy Noddy Big Head Little Body Whiting for Chris
Another very thin, but good sized whiting for Mark
Take Care and happy Catching Chaps! - G
