Blanking is the best part of the hobby/sport?. What else can be better than getting a sea rat on your lovely lug sausage you spent your hard earned money on ? ;)

Instead of expecting instant results, why don't you learn from it? Do a bit of thinking for your fishing. If you seriously want to catch fish, you have to put the effort in, not just go down when it suits you - you have to go down when it suits the fish. For me, that meant fishing until after 3am this morning, got home about 4 and was up at 8.30, but it was worth it.

As for Roker pier being crap, have a look at my report, and others. Its only crap when you don't fish at the right time, in the right conditions.

I just love fishing. Love to be out wether I'm catching or not. I don't go much into the science side of fishing and I don't have the time to go on reccys with work and other commitments. I get out when I can and try to pick the best area to fish based on the conditions for spots I know.
As for the expense, I don't think it's too bad when you consider the price of a day at the football, Big Phil summed that up the other day. Even a couple of nights out on the drink at a weekend costs a fortune.
Keep your gear mate and enjoy your fishing, I know I do.:)
