well me and a couple of mates ventured out onto roker pier, fished just before the end northside ,not the place i would rather fish as it is snaggy ground lost a few rigs and so did they,so we moved just at the stairs on the bottom of the round head into the bay side, very slow small bites here and there ,then a decent whiting turned up on ragworm, i set 2nd rod up and using pulley pennel rig with ragworm ,on the bottom a nice size portion of mackrel strip hoping for a whiting to take ,first bite resulted in a small knock ,stood a while waiting nothing ,placed rod down bang went like the clappers slack liner, came in with a nice codling about 3lb 3/4 to 4lb which was deeply hooked

me mates had a whiting each both the same time about a pound mark, while i was reeling in sommit in ,which produced a plaice at 32 cm,s, went back for another day

Gotta tell my Roker lobster story again (it's that time of year)

A lad caught a beauty and hoyed it back - his mate asked why he'd chucked a beautiful lobster back and he said it wasn't an edible lobster as they are red :o
