Was down ratty yesterday and overheard a lad saying that roker pier is now open till july as they have delayed start date for work on pier.anyone no i if thats true.cheers

So it miraculously runs in to winter season, when the seas start to get rough, so they can keep it closed longer?

Either this council are incredibly thick, or theyre doing it on purpose

Hello safc.no doubt we will find out next few day why its been put back.i was thinking same as you mate that it will bugger up the winter fishing.when it was first announced it closeing fron april to november atleast we knew what was happening but now no one seems to have a clue.hope its not another stupid council mistake as they seem make them on a regular basis with no thought to the public of which they are there to represent.mind boggles

I think the company that has won the contract must think its going to have no storms and the pier will be bone dry later in the year
we all know once the wind starts from the north its over the pier deck and it is awash.
then again if its the council doing the work
some times rumours tend to be wrong just have to wait and see lads
unless sam harris contacts the council again he always gets the correct information

Just seen this on the echo website. It says it's closing in June and will be finished by winter.
