Roker Pier

Has anyone else had a problem with drunks trying to fish Roker Pier? I was down last night and I finally gave up having to dodge 6oz of lead. Out of 25 people fishing, 17 of these were drinking. Not bad for a alcohol free zone. I have had a lengthy conversation with Ash Curl, Community and Culturural office. He has a regular problem with this and he says to ring the police, although there responce is not very promising. The more anglers who ring the police about this problem, the quicker Ash and his staff can ge t it sorted. The next time your fishing Roker Pier and see these morons knocking back the cans and bottles whilst trying to hit the horizon with great chunks of lead, give the local police a call. :casstet: :casstet:

Its the same on shields, i dont have a problem with them sinking a few cans on a nice day..maybe getting lashed and being a danger or causing problems would prompt me in re-thinking my view on them.

Blyth is the same, theres one or two chav style tools plus theres your regular all year round Conoflex,Penn Supermag,Titan clad fishermen knocking back the cans,so dont stereotype these people please, last year I was fishing Blyth pier and these morons, with top of the range gear left that much crap behind I thought they had left some of the gear on the pier,I had a look and there was a bin bag full of tins, greggs bags, pop bottles etc etc, they were that pi##ed they forgot to throw it over the side :exclam: shame they had\'nt left there £300 rods behind :o ,rest my case, same sh#t different year.I wonder if calling the police is the right approach, unless they are out of control, think it could create bad publicity with locals and the press, never fished Roker so I can\'t comment on it properly

Fished Blyth pier one night a few month\'s ago and as I was leaving two d**kheads were just arriving shouting abuse at me as I was driving from the car park. I think the fact that I was laughing at them was why they got a bit nastier lol. I bet the people who were still on the pier were chuffed to bits when they turned up.

Jim.

just my 2 bobs worth but the 2 dont go together alcohol and fishing

fair enough a small bottle or 2

we fished cambois jettys last year ,2 young lads totaly blotto tried bumming bait for an all nighter, they had little choice as they had drove there and ended up too drunk to drive home, now considering they were fishing north pier id class that as an accident waiting to happen,we have a rule if your drunk or drinking you dont get in the car simple as that :)

reading all the posts, it seems it is the same everywhere. Roker Pier is an alcohol free zone and there had been a meeting with Ash Curl ( Cultural & Community ) Tom Parkinson and the local police, the police said they would step up enforcing this law, but it never happens. Ash had a problem the other week with chavs and some anglers drinking and throwing bottles. He called the police. two and a half hours later, still no police. I bet if we were speeding up the piers in our cars they,d be there.

I don\'t fish Roker pier much , but the last twice i have i too have encountered these antisocial drunken \"Anglers\" and the bad language was non stop - when i was a kid i used to go down the Pier with my mates - i wouldn\'t want my kids down there with those morons about
last time i thought they were going to start fighting with each other and the must have had the intelligence of a frog between the five of them.
The most unfortunate thing about it, is that to the public \" they are Anglers\" and i suspect that while they are on the end of the pier most of the public will not know they exist until we start calling the police down there to sort them out - & there is even more rubbish left behind -TRICKY ONE THIS !

I only fish Roker during the warmer months in the early morning for the reasons stated on this thread. All I can say to those who fish it and find the behaviour unacceptable(as I do) is find other places to fish. I know its an easy place to fish, but there are other places which are just as easy to fish, and just as easy to get to.

hi all, how often do you see police walking the beat these days, there is just not enough of them, we pay poll taxis better services where are they, more litter left on the sreets after bin men been round, they cant afford to keep criminals in prison cost too much ,wont build more prisons cost too much, where do we go crime pays at the moment sad to say, police say to me wait till something happens well that says it all p---ed off john

hi all, how often do you see police walking the beat these days, there is just not enough of them,

Aye cos the Tw@ts are all sitting in white vans behind a speed camera ,making about £400,000 a day from \"offending \" drivers, thats why you dont see them out and about.

Rant Over - and i havent even cracked the Strongbow open yet ,must be the news that my mate Ell is back amongst us !!!

hi, talking to cid the other day and he was saying the paper work for them is unbelievable, there is good and bad with everything there will be some police who will not careless and others who will, if you have any trouble who do you ring were would we be without them, i have been told just last week of the numbers available around my area, there used to be a hieght limit for joining the police not now, all this is personal opions and in my opion money is being wrongly spent remember the waterfall at seaburn there was hell on about it, might be going off the subject a little here but what about the poll tax do you think we get better services i dont rip off john
