After fishing last night i had quite a bit bait leftover so i decided 2 try a mark tht i've never fished before the manhole rocks at ryhope dene. I got dwn there at about 11 o'clock this mornin nd the tide was on its way out. After a canny little walk dwn very steep steps nd lots of big rocks nd very deep rock pools i eventually got there nd i liked th look of th place as it had lots of very deep rock pools tht i had 2 jump across it looked lyk perfect cod ground but unfortunitly all i managed was a rockling :( but i think its definetly a mark i'll b trying agen maybes when the sea gets rough agen. Does any1 on ths forum know much about this mark? any info wud b helpful thanks.

The easiest way to the Manholes is from the village.Walk down through the tunnell under the railway and you will come to a big flat ramp.
Take a right along the beach and the manholes are about 300yds.
They fish best 2 down 2 up casting NE into mixed ground on Medium to big tides.S Easterlies fish better.
Beware not to stay too long as the tide floods as there is a point near the ramp where you will be cut off,you will pass it going on.Also some of the holes on the rocks are very deep, thats why they are called the Manholes.
The cliffs behind can be good over high water, casting into the gulley to the left of the rocks....
Have a look on google earth, zoom in on Ryhope village and you will see the Manholes to the South....
