3 of us fished shields pier last nite got there 7pm, quite a few fishing upto 1st gate,so decided on fishing 44 ended up just right of the blocks,nothing till about 9ish caught a rockling,then about 10 ish got a nice litlle knock,result a nice size whitey 
mate caught a very little codling 
k,nothing after that so moved up near the bend,few knocks between us but not connecting 
but stuck it out then about 4am ish nice knock what a result a nice 2lb codling my 1st of the year,baited up out it went 10 mins later another nice knock in came another 2.5lber well chuffed nothing after that decided on 1 last cast mate gets a decent knock,nice bend in rod but got hung up 
left about 5ish,baits used rag,lug,mussel,bluey,fish caught on lug and mussel all in all a very good nite with a good laugh thrown in but was a very cold nite just glad id took the bbq bucket that kept us warm cheers russ
ps if the 2 lads that were on the end,mate says tks for the pkt of jaffa cakes and hope the charcoal got some feeling back in your hands.
