Fished at first gate with a mate last night. From 5pm till about 10.30pm.
We fished the lighthouse side of the gate and when we got there the pier was lit up like a christmas tree as it was canny busy.
I used a pennel pulley with a 4/0 bottom hook and a 2/0 top hook with fresh lug and tipped with frozen crab.
Fished the inside first and all it produced was one small coaley.
So as the tide reached high water we changed to the outside.
We were getting bites every cast but i missed a few so I dropped down to a single 2/0 hook.
We caught about 10 coalies between us and to be honest although the biggest was only 11oz it was good fun.
All fish were returned, altough a couple went belly up as they were deep hooked which was a shame
As usual the craic was good and the fishing was fun!!!
