Salting rag.

I was looking at a lads post on the drowning worms forum and he recommends salting rag worm when they are dead or nearly dead to preserve them and they work really well as bait! HAS ANYONE TRIED THIS???

i tryed it but failed for got to keep salting them
lol anyway tried it and didnt get anything but then again the fishing was crap when i tried them so it could have been tht

Aye was thinking in just putting them into a pile of salt in a resealable Tupperware box like, not just a sprinkle. Seems like a canny way to save bait tho:cool:

I went for a dig this morning tried fishing where I dug but it was a bit to windy so still got some left, if I dont get round to using them over the weekend I might give the salt a try, they already in a tupperware box

i use salted rag just as much as fresh, and i can tell you it does work! what ever left overs i have from a session i clean off, plonk them onto a couple of sheets of news paper, then lather them in salt as quick as you can to try to prevent them breaking themselves (as soon as they get a single grain on them, theyll go mad) mix then up make sure salt is all over them. roll in silver foil 1 or 2 worms at a time!

i have much the same results as using fresh, plus its much tougher and stays on your hook longer :)

Nice 1 mate cheers for that, hopefully il get to use them before the need to salt them though, where do you store them ?

just get enough worm to last the session ,then next session get some more in my opinion fresher the better.

That's always my plan mate, but today I was planning on at least 6 hours fishing but the wind picked right up and my wee boy (7) was feeling the cold so cut the trip short.
Now they are in the fridge is my perfect excuse for the mrs that they cannot be wasted, and that's another trip for me ;)
