hi all, i am new to this site and this is my girst post, any way i was just wondering if anybody has used sandeel iff shields pier and caught any thing with it, i have got a few packets still form scotland off couple weeks back which were still frozen and didnt know if to try them, ALso has anybody used the new bait called "BLUEYS". READ A ARTICLE in sea angler and they seem trather good. thanks for any info,

if you use rag or lug
and just tip the bait off with sandeel you will get some whitings

ive not used the bluey stuff yet

Welcome to NESA mate. I know a couple of the lads on here have used blueys so i'm sure they will let you know if they are any good.

i use nothing but blueys mate, fantastic bait never fail to catch something with them...
mind you im in Iceland and the fishing is so good i could put a sock on a hook and catch hahah....
but seriously it is great bait, very oily and stays on the hook very well
but dont get it on you as you will never get the smell out of your clothes.

i read an article a few months back about these bluey`s - then realised they were testing it in Iceland ,so yes they were not telling any lies (them rascals that run Total Sea Fishing :o :o ) - but surely it is like testing a new Fishing lure in a Garden pond full of fish, to get a report to the local/national press :exclam: :exclam:

i realise that there is an abundance of fish in the waters here...but it has to be worth giving them a try, why muck about with lug, crab and all the other baits when one will do just fine. if they are available locally my advice is to try them, what have you got to lose.

eyemouth

eyemouth

fished eyemouth sat gone got a nice wrass about 2lb and got a load ov macky 2. also my mate hooked into a porbeagle shark and thats no s### took all he's macky on hes line. At the end ov the day got talking to 1 ov the locals there and he said it has been hanging around in the bay the past couple ov days going back up at the week end. ;) ;)

Me and my daughter Emma used blueys up in SW Scotland the other week and it outfished the mackerel baits by 3-1 (see our catch report on here). I'm itching to give it a go off the rocks this winter and busy stocking up on it now, as it's selling as fast as Terry gets it in.

blueys are a new bait from frozen bait sellers baitbox most tackle shops have it in at 3/4 a pack for around £3
its an oily fish like a macky but has stronger scent lots of reviews in sea angler mag and total sea fishing mag
i find it ok and cant wait to try it during the winter months im stocking up too as i think it will be a hit

i've used them and find it looks good on the hook, either a strip to tip off with or a small fillet hooked and then folded back over a baited hoo and elasticed on flesh side out. sorry but i'm not the best person to tell you if its a new wonder bait or anything, simply cos i really dont catch alot of fish on any bait lol will be buying a pack tomorrow though. I have no problem getting a hold of them, Reelsport stocks them! and i'm sure most other bait suppliers will, apparently they've used them for pike fishing for years?!
