Sandmans Tackle ULTIMATE COD RIG

does the hook come out ok with those impact shields , i've always thought the hook goes up a bit far and wont release ??? I don't trust them tbh , and never used them .

ive found the hook will come out every time if you dont mask the hook point/bend, thats why i love using the easy bait holder we made and shown how to make one on a video,

thanks for watching the video mate

nice viddy again mate and good point on crimps, over crimp and the line will be damaged so gently does it

i was talking to a lad about over crimping on Saturday, has any one ever damaged there line by doing so, i done a test last year crimped the hell out of it and the line never snapped

I have subscribed mt and as usual i really enjoyed the video and i will be making a half dozen of these tomorrow , cheers and thanks .

I use crimping pliers and crimp 3 sections , I have had fish upto 6 lb off seaham south pier and had no issues , I have been stuck fast by the hook and pulled off and the bottom crimp has slid all the way down to the lead and never damaged the line . the only thing id say is not to crimp right on the edge , as this can bite into the line and snap it.

any chance you could do a sandmans tackle time for xmas of all the offtakes that went wrong whilst filming ??

Yes i have when using normal pliers, crimped alittle more than usual because i was getting them slip and snapped right on the crimp when casting. Will only use a proper crimping tool now and crimp gently.

i had a snap off yrs ago due to overcrimping now i normany put two crimps on side by side and use round nose pliers to crimp and dont crimp as hard now wth two been on.

bait shields trouble i have is when using crab the cotton gets tangle on the bait shield at times which is no good plus on occasions mainly with side wind there can be release problems.

bait shields i will use with bigger baits but for smaller baits the imps.

also i wunder what catch rates would be like without this fancy dangled rigs that most of us use me included.

again steven and paul good of you,s both to make these vids ,they will be very helpful for a lot of people this is something positive about forums.

thanks mate: i always think does it matter what rigs i use, i remember going back 18 years ago when i was 10 fishing seaham pier when you used to park at the police station on the hill i used to use 60lb rig body with a loop in it and pass the hook through that and i had so many nice fish that night,

Good video again. What I try to do is make my rigs with least components as possible to make sure if you do lose it for whatever reason then your not down a fortune off making the rig lol. I like it on the pulley rigs he made how he used cable insulation which is a good thing to have in there as its very cheap

Never ever had a single impact shield fail to release the hook mate. Fool proof.... And I'm the proof lol. So long as they are set up fine then they always release. Find them much better than the other stuff on the market... Imps etc

Very helpfull video, only really use two rigs myself 4 cod, pulley pennle n the same rig paul showed in his film, been on them chinu's myself(veals varivas)for a couple of yrs now, very very strong hook n great for the top hook of the pennle(very neat n tidy).Regards crimps, used e'm 4 yrs n never experienced any probs with them.
Well done on a cracking vid, paul comes across very well, very pleasant:)
Ps,use the impact shields myself, can't fault e'm for bulky bait's,stops the bait wobble in flight, love the imp's for werm bait's(very neat n streamlined)

chinu hooks good for hooking but even better at hooking kelp .

I prefer to use a hook to line ratio which will increase the chances of the hook straighten out before the line snaps .
