Went out from the Tyne wrecking, the big numbers of cod we had not so long ago seem to have moved elsewhere but there are some good ling to be had along with some surprises to.
A garfish caught a couple of miles out, a very rare catch this far North.
Haddock seem to be appearing more and more in catches. I witnessed a 4lb'er just last week!
A lovely 13lb cod for a lucky angler.
There was also a 16lb ling caught to bait. Shads don't seem to be working great at the moment but one or two codling did fall to this method.
If anyones going out soon on the boat I'd recommend trying for the ling as there are some good ones about.
We were lucky enough to be in the river when the cruise ship Arcadia left her moorings to head out into the North Sea and beyond. Wow!! what a sight, a massive ship that dwarfed the buildings along the river front. Wouldn't like a window cleaning job on board though as there must have been thousands to clean!
