Went out saturday night down to what used to be Brigams docks for a quiet sesh!! loaded up a massive 6/0 hook with everything i could get on it rag, lug, crab, mussel, razor and mackrel, hoping the was going to be a few cod kicking around. Also put a junk of macky in my new colapsable lobser/crab pot and slung that in to see what it would get. Was getting loads of very small knocks on the big bait but nothing like a cod. after a few hours decided a change of tactic was in order. Tied up a 2 boomed rig size 1/0 hook on the top 2/0 on the bottom. loaded the top with lug and the bottom with crab. Took a very small whitey first chuck on the lug. Second cast a flatie on a lug razor combo again on the top hook. decided to mix it up a bit as nothing was touching the crab on the bottom boom. changed the top hook to a 3/0 and baited it with crab and muscel and put my worm on the bottom hook. First chuck pulled out a eel, the slimey sod tried to wrap himself round my rig but i managed to get him unhooked. baited up again and managed another flatie again on the worm baits. was a canny night although had a close encounter with a booze cruze ferry, not as close as the lads fishing up river, by the amount of abuse he was shouting think he must have nearly lost his rod, heard both of his lines snap off!!!. Oh am my colapsable trap!! got about 60 - 80 crabs and 2 eals, was hoping to get a few fresh peeler but no luck. anyway returned all fish and the like to fight another day, was a nice mark to fish shame there was no cod.
