joined me cuz and a couple of pals on their annual new year pilgrimage to balcary. left for wa caravan (which was v nice:)) in kipford on fri night, a few beers then bed. weather unfortunately (but typically) took a turn for the worse and we were greeted on sat mornin with 70mph winds and a massive sea:( thought it best not to risk the point/flat rock for fear of getting swept to an early grave but managed to wet a line farther round in rascarrel bay. waste of time, sea massive, couldn't hold bottom or even get any gear back:( luckily, as rocks and gullies showed as the tide receded we recovered a good bit of our gear. lines and leaders were proper wrecked and mangled, wrapped round rocks etc. pulled one of me leaders from around a rocky point in between waves and there was a wee codling on the end of it:exclam: unfortunately that was it for the day. called time about 4 as everyone had been battered by the relentless wind and bruised from head to toe on the slippy rocks. did see a shark/tope fin and tail literally 20 yards out mid afternoon, couldn't believe it:o:o:o. wondered if it was poorly/dying or just caught up in the storm:confused:
anyway, 60 quids worth of bait, 3 blanks (and a codling for me:D) ok, 4 blanks, one knacked fugi BNM.. wotsit, cold, wet, bruised, disgruntled, hungry etc it was off to the pub for some top tucker and a few stella's:D

granted, the fishing was pap, but great weekend with great company all the same. roll on next year:D:D:D

had a couple of hours over low water in cullercoats harbour monday morning to use up a few worms.........got nowt. moral of the story:- divn't travel miles at great expense to do what you can do on ya doorstep for nowt:D

till next time......
