My IT people at work have told us about an email doing the rounds purporting to be from HSBC. It comes complete with a link to click on to familiarise yourself with Internet banking. This website is virtually identical to the legitimate HSBC banking site.
This is a scam known as Phishing, and is designed to make you part with your back account details and passwords so others can clean out your bank account. Usually these sites look fake, but this is one of the most authentic seen so far.
If anyone has received a similar email, please delete the message. Your bank will never email you requesting confirmation of your bank details, nor should they attach a link to take you automatically to the logging in screen.
If you are concerned over internet banking security, it\'s worth familiarising yourself with the security information available on your bank\'s (legitimate!) website.
They go on to say that fake site has been reported to HSBC and to antiphishing.org website.
Hope this helps - the info\'s worth sharing.
