Just been reading this Month addition and it said Middleton has been getting good stamp fish and had a big write up all ave been getting is small Tommies and a million whities has eny one on here had eny joy of there ave had all my decent fish of the staincliffe

Surely like any mark it has its day! I have read the article and just take it for what it is.. On the day they had fish there, just dont expect to rush down and bag up! The sea conditions must have been right and as everyone knows every tide fishes differently.. Or maybe it was just luck! Its up to the individual to decide..

fished it last Tuesday I had 1 small coalie, there was a 1and 1/2 lb whitey caught and a few other bits.... the day before the lads I was fishing next to said they had about a dozen whitey and 3 codling...it goes to prove if the conditions are right most venues will produce fish, even if the venues are frowned upon by the self appointed elite anglers of the nesa ....let the debate commence....

who are they

Stevie Walker generally writes articles for sea angler around Hartlepool areas and he should know he fishes local. Met him loads of times and always speaks. Real good angler as well.
Mick.

Was fishing the heugh quite a few years ago and Steve was fishing the right hand corner. Nobody was getting a bite while steve was pulling in double shots whitey/codling/flatties every cast.. Didnt know who he was then but realised he was a good angler.. Spoke to him a few times since then, always willing to share info. Top bloke imo :)

every year around october he copy and pastes the same bull**** in the hartlepool mail claiming 10lb fish and bags of upto 20lb all the while the sea has been flat calm.

even on its day its the worst cod mark in hartlepool lol

Middleton very rarely produces fish over 2lb. Conditions have to be perfect for decent codling to be landed. Big sea's and most other piers will be awash when middleton fishes well, but as ya'd expect the end will be rammed as its 1 of the only places able to be fished.

Fairy stories lol. Yes, it can fish well enough in perfect conditions, but that is only the odd occasion and not the norm.

I used to do articles for Match Fishing magazine (freshwater) and they are often "helped" along by putting more than one anglers fish together to make a bag look good. Time is money for the travelling photographer/journalists. As they say its about selling mags.

Middleton pier

Middleton pier

Firstly my arse Middleton in the right conditions its rare this pier shows any promise. It's a crap hole billet and whitties small to sat the least.

I've been fishing for over 25 years and still have never fished the place it's a place to go when the sea is to rough anywhere else I'd rather not go out than fish on there

it is a poor venue for any decent sized fish??

i remember as a young lad some 35yrs or so ago it was a good place to go after a heavy sea :)
