OK,i know there is not a definative cure or protection against sea sickness but what type of stuff,pills etc do you guys use before a boat fishing trip?
i used sea legs and they worked once but the second time i didnt ,which was great (RAAAAAAAAAAAAAALF)..

I treat a trip out on as boat as I would any other type of trip (:cool: ) Sai Baba says "Be careful what you do the night before brother for a God can soon become a Gadgy when the wind turns to the East" and when the rushes come "make sure you neither owe a fellow man the money or your concubine an apology"

Also - "He what rides on the Deisel Beast must not drinketh of it's breath"

Oh Aye just remembered - "Steer clear from The Chum my pal and don't sit on a swivel chair and spin around on the deck with your eyes shut"

Always take an extra eye out with you just in case the skipper goes down with a dose of "Ohh ya chuffer don't feel well" you can give the skipper the spare eye so he can see his way back home on the Tom Tom with both real eyes shut. I've heard of a well respected skipper who shall remain nameless (mark) tooling blindly about, aimlessly looking for wrecks because everytime he looked at the electronics it made him feel poorly. :D

I wasn't exactly leaping around in the rigging myself at the time

Sea sickness.

Sea sickness.

A couple of months ago i went out on Maggie May for an all day fishing session. My first real trip since i went out once last year.
Last year the sea was flat so there was no problem.
Couple of months ago it was bad. I was spewing on and off all day. But it did not stop me fishing. I noticed i was the only one on the boat bad. When we got off i was told nearly everyone had taken some type of seasickness tablets.
I was determined not to give in so booked to go out again a couple of weeks later.
I bought some STUGERON-15 travel sickness tablets from the chemist for £2:60. I took two,two hours before we went out and then another one whilst out on the boat after a total of about 9 hrs into the day.
I can honestly say i was not sick (and i also ate my sarnies) and it was not exactly calm at sea.

I also went out for a trip recently on a boat at seahouses for three hours and did not take anything and i was fine. This boat was to say the least bouncing about a bit.

Also good advice not to get ratted on the night before. Lad i worked with did this and he was very very sick whilst out on the boat.

Swear by kwells.One an hour-ish before,then one about 1/2way thro' the day.I used to honk all day til I used them.
Favourite tip;
Stay away from the back end and the diesel fumes,by all means set your gear up there,but when the engine starts hit the pointy end,
 
i still belive before your first trip its nerves.
not knowing whats gona happen ect .
then by ure 2nd trip your getting the nerve to just deal with it
could be lol
 
Eat something for breakfast as well - I find it really hard to even think about food at daft o'clock but I reckon that was at least 99% of why I felt rough last time out :rolleyes:

As someone has already said the other 1% was probably "in my head" :o :D
 
I think it's mostly in your head. Went out for years in all sorts of seas in small and large boats and no effects whatsoever. Went out with a bad hangover and was so sick i had to be taken back in and now everytime i go out i'm sick but i think i have convinced myself i'm going to be sick before we even go. Never been out for a few months now so next time i am i'll take some pills.
 
eerrrrmmm thats not strictly true Tony . :) :) I think it was more to do with the 18mph westerly the 6 foot swell and the fact we had to kneel down to bait a hook :) .................. fingers crossed for flat seas next time.

but as you say something to eat helps (even if its just to lubricate on the way back up :) ) and certainly keep alcohol to a minimum the night before .... as I always do ;) shhhhh
 
I always use joy riders which i find also do the trick. In addition (and Im sure it was a NESA memeber that gave me this tip) ginger is very good for the colly wobbels ginger biscuits or you can get ginger tablets/sweets I use chrystalised ginger which you can buy in any health shop like Holland and Barrets keep a packet in your pocket and if you begin to get the twinges stick a bit of ginger in yer mouth. Lastly and just to reiterate what the rest of lads have said Keep Away from the diesel monster. Happy sailing and cracking fishing:thumbup:
 
Full english at home before you go, followed by an all day munching session out ya haversack full of goodies ya took with ya, MMMMM LOVELY MAN. lol
 
correct me if im wrong did the old advert say ,a mars a day help u work rest and play ,u over done it didnt ya ,ya played too much fishing
