I was watching on the webcam at 2.30pm today the waves were breaking over the southeast corner all the way to the blocks and emptying into the wheel. One wave came over the height of the light house.
Just dropped wife off at the Crabshank on Shields seafront and could sea lights on the end of Shields pier so it must have dropped off a lot as when I was along the seafront as it was getting dark at teatime I thought then that there would be no chance of anyone fishing it.

i was looking about 11.30am and thought its a bit risky, then dropped by about 2ish and it had dropped quite significantly... but was still a little large for my comfort zone.
Thinking an early AM bottom water fish, just to make sure the waves have to be BIG for any danger. Not worth risking getting hurt.... or worse.
Just herd people climbed onto roker.... WTF are people actually retarded around their... that pier is awash in several places when the ferrys go past on a large tide!!!
