Seaburn/Roker Last Night

Started at Seaburn beach but got into too much weed.

Then fished between the piers - got a couple of 1.5lb codling and a coalie

Then fished off the old north pier (nr rathouse) and got a codling of 2.5lb, 1.5lb and a rockling and several crabs. Thought the bigger codling was at least double that cos of its
nodding but ho hum -can't argue.

One of the lads in the Sunderland comp had a 4+ bag.

Cracking session, plenty of bites. 5/6 slack liners on top as well - deffo reckon these were bigger fish as I hooked into a few of them but they came off.

NOW is the time to get out lads. Looking out of me window I can see that the sea has fallen away a bit. Could be amazing this evening.

Mussel was the bait to use in tipping off - didn't have any crab but this was only catching a bit more, but not much more. Using cocktails of blacks, blow, rag and mussel.

LOt of the lads who were fishing last night on the beaches had problems with weed monsters should be better tonight.
regards

one of the weeds I saw one lad get was a bloody triffid with a 3lb rock on the end!

Have been out tonight - Seaburn/Whitburn beach - nothing - a few small codling being caught by others, but not me.

Tried Marsden/Minchella steps on the flood (hole 50 yards to left), a couple of 1lb coalies on the flood with annoyingly massive cod thumps x 2 and slack liners. Second one, I start legging it up the beach to connect and fall on me arse!

Last night on this mark apparently produced codling to 7lb but not tonight.

Flood slightly scary given swell...

Had a look down around high water (3.30pm) and the old pier was fairly full with only 2 whities and lots of weed being caught. Decided to set up between the piers and stayed there until around 7.30pm. Plenty of bites to keep us occupied - small coalies mainly. Managed first codling of the year - about 1.5lb and a good size coalie. Lost one off in the surf which felt a better fish but I will never know. Father, who can't cast particularly far managed two size coalies and also lost a one on the retrieve. Bait used was lug, rag and mussel. Enjoyed the session and the signs are looking good for the winter if we can get the right conditions!
