Me and Phil went down to Seaham beach tonight for a few hour fishing. We got there at 6.30 just in time for the top of the tide and set up 3 rods with pennel rigs and using Mackerel for bait.
On Phils first cast he reeled in a decent sized Mackerel which was a good start. On my second cast I had a random crack off so spent a while sorting out my line and tying a new shockleader. However as I was reeling the next cast it suddenly went heavy and I hauled up my lost rig complete with weight and shockleader
The next hour was pretty uneventful but as darkness fell the bites picked up. Phil was the first to hook a fish, a Whitey. My next two casts results in my hooks coming back with crabs legs attached, so I guess there's a few 9 legged crabs walking around.
After that I hooked in to a Whitey and Phil got another Whitey, which was a decent size. We then had to leave because all the bait had been used and Phil has to be at work early tomorrow.
I don't have any pictures of the fish but here's a picture of Phil casting.
