Hello guys back from our week at Seahouses. Went fishing every day except the last !.
The harbour at seahouses consists of two piers. The main one is where most of the public go.
If you walk around the harbour there is another pier. This is in a state of disrepair for the first third of its length but still fishable if you get on when the tide is down. I fished off here for the first time early in the week and caught a few coalies and small penwicks. (little coalies). I was float fishing for these using some locally bought rag.
There was a lad on from Durham catching Ballon Wrasse every other put in of his float. I made it my task to catch one. Alas not on this day.
As the week went on i fished the main pier later at night when the crowds had gone. On one sinking of the float i pulled up my first Ballon Wrasse. A lovely bronze fish. I was also helping inexperienced anglers and one young lad caught his first ever Coalie when i set up his trace and put some live rag on. His gran was gobsmacked when she saw the coalie fighting like mad.
Tried using a spinning rod with a diving plug off the pier and rock edges at low tide. No luck. Water was as clear as crystal.
A good place to fish for a change and good for cod. Snaggy as hell but good at dusk by all accounts.
My mission now is to catch my first Bass. So i,m off down the pool tomorrow and casting off the beach past the third breaker cos thats were they are by all accounts.
