shields pier????

havent fished shields for donkeys years, how far up the pier are the gates? and what does it fish like up to the gates , also are the gates always open if not is it bit of a carry on climbing them thanks

you can fish from coastguard hut right up to first gate ! the gates are usually open from 7.30am till 9.30 pm but im told the gates are shut at the moment but if you feel athletic you can climb around them seaward side

First gate is about a couple of hundred yards up, never fish it myself but many do and there are good fish caught (high water mark only I think). In summer gate opens about 8:00 and closes around 20:00 I think, might be wrong like. Gates easy to get around like and normally no probs without getting hoyed off, infact I personaly have only been chucked off the pier once but that was in winter with a few waves coming over.

not much of a climb lol walk along the beach and climb up the wall
